Little Lukey Bear turned 5 months old this past Sunday. That means in only one month we will be half way to his first birthday....crazy!! He is definitely growing fast and learning lots of new things. He rolls all over the place. He likes his belly best. When I put him on his back, he rarely stays there. He can get around by going backwards. He gets up on his knees and then pushes off, but always goes backwards. He is trying so hard to figure out how to go forward. I expect him to start crawling soon. He gets so close, but then goes backward. He sits pretty well. I don't yet feel comfortable sitting him in the floor and leaving him because when he gets excited he falls backward. He is also obsessed with his feet and always has to bend over to play with them and leans forward a little too far sometimes. He reaches, grabs, and holds anything and everything that comes within arm's reach. He recognizes his name. If someone says Luke, Lukey, or Lukey Bear he looks to see who said it. He has had a little bit of stranger anxiety. If he can't see me and someone else is holding him, he lets out his "scared" cry. Hopefully that doesn't last too long!
He is working on some teeth. I thought he was getting one on bottom, but it seems to have stopped coming in any further. One morning this week, I noticed his top gum looked different. It was a little swollen and I could see white popping through. It too has seemed to almost go back in, but he is working on them. He has become obsessive about having something in his mouth at all times. He has even sucked his thumb a few times...so cute!
Luke is still sweet as ever and always smiling. The one thing that still keeps him as a baby baby for me is how much he cuddles. He loves it. There are times where he will still lay his head on my shoulder or chest and just cuddle with me. It is so, so sweet!! He also loves to grab our face with both hands and pull us in almost as if he is trying to hug us. He is super smiley and still so laid back. I am very thankful for what a great sleeper he is. He does still sometimes wake up around 5 or 5:30 to eat, but it is slowly decreasing. He takes great naps and can fall asleep almost anywhere. It's such a strange concept to me since Andrew and Ella were nothing like that.
A friend of mine let us borrow the jumper he is sitting in in the pictures below. We got it about 3 weeks ago and only his tip toes can reach. Now he can reach enough to jump in it! He is really growing!! The pictures in the jumper are right after his bath and you can kind of see his hair. His hair is finally growing and after his bath, it always poofs out everywhere. It is so cute it makes me laugh.
