My mom brought Andrew and Ella to the hospital the next morning to meet their new baby brother. They had been so excited for him to come and I was curious what they would think once they saw him. Andrew was excited to see him. Although, Ryleigh was there too, so I think he was more interested in playing with her. He did want to look at and hold Luke. I think he was surprised he was actually there and not in my belly. There was a lot going on and I think it was hard for him to focus. The next day when he came, he was more calm and held Luke much longer.
Ella was a little confused at first, but seemed really interested in Luke. We have friends with twins, Carter and Nora, that are about 5 months old. Ella kept calling Luke "Carter". When we asked her who Luke was she would say, "Baby Carter". We kept telling her that he was Baby Luke and that he had come out of my belly and was here to stay with us. She would just smile. Then she asked where her Dora (Nora) was. We had to explain that we only had one baby. It was so cute that she saw we had a "Carter" but not a "Nora". She sat with me on the bed most of the time she was there. She tried giving Luke her straw. I told her he couldn't hold things yet, he was too little. She looked at me and held out her hands and said, "Does he have hands like these?" So I showed her his hands, but explained he couldn't use them to hold things yet.
They each picked out something at the store to give Luke in the hospital and wrapped it themselves. Andrew picked a giraffe and Ella picked a bear. They seemed proud to give Luke his gifts. Luke also got them gifts, which they loved. Andrew got a new Toy Story t-shirt and Bernstain Bears Baby Makes Five book. Ella got a new Barbie and a Dora book.
We also had lots of other friends and family come meet Luke at the hospital. Aunt Melanie, Ryleigh, and Presley came with Mimi and Andrew & Ella. So Luke and Presley got to meet for the first time. They were so cute together. Aunt Trisha and Uncle Nathan came that morning too. That night Grandpa Dean and Grandma Tina, Uncle Rob & Aunt Katie, Aunt Jill, Nana & Donny, and The White's came to visit. The next day Michelle and Carrie came in the morning. Mimi, Andrew, and Ella came back for a visit too. That afternoon/evening Christa, Dennis, Dean, & Devan, The Holestine's, and The Rash's came to visit. It was great to see everyone and share our new little miracle.
