Here Comes Santa Claus

The kids saw Santa three times this year at different events. The first one was at Drop and Shop at church. They didn't have the chance to sit on his lap. Santa just called their names and gave them stockings. I wasn't there, but from what others say (her Uncle Nathan was Santa), she didn't seem scared of him. We had plans to go to a Santa Spectacular right after the Drop and Shop at church, so I thought for sure Ella would sit on his lap. She was really excited about the stocking she got from Santa at church and had said all along that she was going to sit on his lap this year. Of course, when we got to Santa, she didn't want to sit on his lap. She was tired and really cranky, so that could have played a part. She also wanted a drink and refused to do anything we asked until we got her a drink. So Santa was not a success with Ella. Andrew hopped right up and told Santa he wanted Legos and Toy Story. We actually had to tell Andrew it was time to get down. I think he would have sat there all day. Luke, of course, didn't know what was going on, so we got a great picture of him with Santa on his first Christmas.

My dad dresses as Santa and comes to our house on Christmas Eve. The kids knew he was coming. Ella went back and forth as to if she was going to sit on his lap. I think there is something even more intimidating about Santa when he is actually in your house. Ella wouldn't sit on his lap or even go close to him. She started crying a few times. When Santa pulled out her present, she quickly ran over, grabbed the present, and then headed for the couch. Andrew was actually hesitant at first, but I finally got him on Santa's lap at the very end.

This picture is of them waiting for Santa. We got home from Mimi's house, put our pajamas on, and they hopped on the couch and waited. They seemed excited yet nervous. When the door bell rang, neither of them moved.

Opening their presents from Santa....on the couch across the room from the chair Santa was sitting in. Ella got a baby, Andrew got a race track, and Luke got a turtle.

Luke didn't mind sitting with Santa.

This picture cracks me up! Ella almost looks photoshopped because she looks so out of place. That is the closest she would get to Santa. She wanted to be in the picture, but didn't want to get close to Santa. That is definitely her nervous smile.

Andrew finally on Santa's lap!

Ella has already said next year she is going to sit on Santa's lap. We will see in a year!
