A couple weeks after Andrew started kindergarten, Ella started her first year of preschool. She goes to St. Paul Lutheran Preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11. Enough time to get her in the classroom setting, meet new friends, and learn a little without me feeling like I'm missing out on having her home. Honestly, I really had no worries about Ella. I think she could start kindergarten next year and be completely fine. =) I knew she would love it and do great. As expected, she had no problem on her first day. You would think she was 13 rather than 3. She was so cute. She wanted all the responsibilities of going to school....she woke up, put her clothes on, ate breakfast, brushed her teeth, and got her backpack. She was so cute in the way that she did everything and how proud she was to be going to school. She had to wear a dress. Her backpack has princesses on it (not a hard decision like Andrew's was).
When we arrived at school, she did great. She walked in, put her backpack in the tote, and started playing. When I picked her up, she was really excited to show me the painting she made. She was very particular about her painting and how we should lay it for it to dry. She was (and still is) also particular about the papers in her backpack. They are "her" papers. She has to get them out, organize them, and then she will let me look at them. She had a great first day and told me about playing, painting, singing, and eating snack.
Here she is ready for her first day:

Ella still loves school and is doing great. She is really excited on the days she gets to go to school. She is talkative and participates in class, loves playing Barbies and babies at school, talks about her friends, is always proud of the work she does, and loves her teacher, Ms. Penny.
She had a Christmas Program and did so great! She practiced at home and sang the songs almost every day. Their Christmas program tells the Christmas story, and Ella's class were the shepherds. Ella knew all her songs and lines and was not afraid to sing them as loud as she could, even when she was up on stage. She looked so cute and we could hear and pick out her voice of all the kids singing. When we see Ella in groups of other kids her age, we always notice how much smaller she is. She's definitely the shortest in her class, but we thought it was funny they gave her the tallest stick to carry. Ms. Penny told us after the program that she put Ella up front because she knew all the words and sang loud. This is certainly one way Andrew and Ella are different.
I will note that Ella wasn't so outgoing when they participated in the Homecoming Parade back in September. Though that was mostly out of her fear of trailers, not because she was shy. The preschool classes always decorate a float and ride in the parade. Ella refused to get on the trailer. We had a friend who was walking along with the float to hand out candy, so she offered to push Ella in a stroller. Their float won first place.
